Solution
Be the business an AI assistant names
A growing share of buyers now ask an assistant instead of scanning ten blue links. The answer names two or three businesses, and if you are not one of them the click never happens.
“When someone asks ChatGPT for a company like mine, I want to be in the answer.”
Generative engine optimization is not a separate discipline bolted onto SEO. It runs on the same foundations — crawlable pages, clear structure, real authority — but it rewards a different writing style. Traditional search rewards a page that is relevant to a query. Answer engines reward a passage that can be lifted, attributed and trusted without further checking.
In practice that means facts stated in complete sentences near the top of a section, specifics instead of adjectives, and a consistent set of details about your business everywhere it appears. An assistant summarizing your market has to reconcile what your site says with your Google Business Profile, your directory listings and any press. Contradictions between those sources make you the risky answer to give.
The second half is machine readability. Structured data telling an engine what kind of organization you are, where you operate and what you offer. Question-and-answer content written the way people actually ask. And a robots policy that does not accidentally block the AI crawlers you would like to be read by, which is a mistake we find on a surprising number of sites.
Diagnosis
What's usually going wrong
Your pages are written in marketing language
"Industry-leading solutions tailored to your needs" cannot be quoted, because it does not say anything. Assistants extract facts, and vague copy provides none to extract.
Your details disagree across the web
Three versions of your hours, two phone numbers and an old address on a directory. Inconsistency reduces the confidence any system has in naming you.
No structured data
Nothing on the page states, in machine-readable form, that you are a business of a given type serving a given area with given services. You are asking the engine to infer everything.
You block or starve the crawlers
An overzealous robots.txt, content that only renders in JavaScript, or no substantive text at all. If it cannot be read, it cannot be cited.
The work
What we do about it
- 01
Rewrite for extractability and mark it up
Answer-first sections, plain factual statements, question-shaped headings, and Organization, Service, LocalBusiness and FAQ structured data that matches what the visible page says.
SEO & GEO - 02
Make your facts consistent everywhere
One canonical set of name, address, phone, hours, categories and services, applied to the profile and the major directories so nothing contradicts.
Google Business Profile - 03
Serve real HTML, fast
Server-rendered content, sensible internal linking and a crawl policy that lets the engines you want actually read the pages.

Measurement
How you'll know it worked
We baseline each of these before the work starts, so improvement is provable rather than asserted.
Assistant citations
We test a fixed set of buyer questions across the major assistants on a schedule and record whether you are named. It is a manual check, and it is the only honest one available today.
AI Overview and referral traffic
Search Console impressions on question-shaped queries, plus referral traffic from assistant domains in analytics.
Structured data validity
Every template validating cleanly, with no mismatch between markup and visible content — a mismatch is worse than no markup at all.
Listing consistency
A tracked list of directories where your details match exactly. Drift is normal and needs a periodic sweep.
Timeline
What happens when
- Audit citations, markup and listing consistency
- 1–2 weeks
- Rewrite key pages, add structured data, fix crawlability
- 3–6 weeks
- Measurable change in how assistants answer
- 2–4 months
It shares the foundation and differs in emphasis. Good SEO makes you findable; GEO makes you quotable. A site with no technical SEO will not win at either, so we do them together rather than selling them as separate programs.
No. Model outputs vary between users, sessions and versions. What we can do is remove every reason not to name you and measure the trend on a consistent set of test questions.
For a local service business, almost always yes. Being excluded from the answer is a larger commercial risk than being summarized in it. Publishers with paid content reasonably decide otherwise.
The opposite. Clearer writing, valid structured data and faster pages help conventional rankings too. Nothing in this work trades one for the other.
Depth beats volume. A handful of pages that genuinely answer the questions buyers ask outperforms dozens of thin ones, which are a liability in both systems.
Services behind this outcome
The outcome is the goal; these are the pieces of work that produce it.
